How are wet wipes packaged?

Packaging materials determine the packaging method of wipes. The most popular packaging method for wet wipes is made of multi-layer materials. According to the appearance and heat sealing performance of the packaging film, as well as the function of the wet wipes inside, it is usually divided into two-layer composite film and three-layer composite film. Here, we summarize the characteristics of these two common packaging films.
The first type is double-layer composite film, which is usually used for wipes without special requirements for sealing performance and strength. The general thickness is 62um to 80um.Because there are fewer layers, the barrier properties are average, and oxygen can easily permeate through it. However ,compared with the three-layer composite film, the production process of double-layer one is relatively simple, the price is more favourable, and the cost performance is high.

The second type is 3-layer composite film suitable for high-end wet wipes and functional wet wipes with special requirements. Compared with the double-layer composite film, it has good strength, high barrier properties, waterproof, moisture-proof, barrier properties, but its heat sealability is relatively poor.

Furthermore, in response to the global trend of environmental protection, wet wipes packaging films have undergone new innovation.Traditional wet wipes packaging films are composed of multiple layers of different materials, which are difficult to decompose and almost impossible to recycle, which is not conducive to environmental protection. Therefore, the wet wipes industry has emerged "single-material" packaging. The so-called "single-material" refers to the packaging film having a multi-layer structure, but each layer of material is PE. In this way, after the wet wipes are used, the packaging film can be recycled, which is of great significance for protecting the environment.
